    On-the-Fly Right-Sizing in the Cloud

    Last month, TidalScale announced its integration with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure at Oracle OpenWorld. The Oracle Cloud provides compute, network and storage infrastructure on demand. TidalScale combines those resources into a Software-Defined Server – a single, high-performance system capable of handling the largest Big Data and analytics workloads, enabling analytics on data sets that have previously been too large to handle using standard hardware platforms. Users can select from available Oracle bare metal cloud systems to configure a single system with the cores, memory, storage and network needed to handle their workload. When their job is done, administrators can reconfigure those resources into one or more systems to handle the next task.

    At SC17, See How Anyone Can Build an HPC System in a Minute

    In Booth #1101 of the Colorado Convention Center TidalScale will demonstrate how users of any skill level can quickly build, allocate and manage one or more Software-Defined Servers using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure resources. TidalScale will show TidalScale WaveRunner™, a simple point-and-click management platform, running on a host within the Oracle Cloud. Using WaveRunner, TidalScale will illustrate how users can, in as little as a minute, build and deploy a Software-Defined Server that combines multiple Oracle Cloud bare metal servers. TidalScale is also demonstrating large applications running under a single, unmodified instance of Linux within the Oracle Cloud.

    This groundbreaking capability is enabled by TidalScale’s acclaimed inverse hypervisor technology. Unlike traditional hypervisors that run multiple images on a single server, TidalScale’s inverse hypervisor technology enables Software-Defined Servers to combine all the resources of multiple commodity systems – including cores, memory, storage and network – into a single system image.  This year TidalScale was named as both an IDC Innovator[i] and a Gartner Cool Vendor[ii] for 2017, and recently won the Red Herring Top 100 North America award for 2017.
