New IDC profile of infrastructure virtualization providers calls out TidalScale for its breakthrough Software-Defined Server platform

CAMPBELL, Calif., March 23, 2017 — TidalScale, the leader in Software-Defined Servers, announced today it has been named an IDC Innovator in a new report issued this week by International Data Corp., the global leader in market intelligence.

The research giant recognized TidalScale in IDC Innovators: Virtualizing Infrastructure with Software-Defined Compute, 2017 for the company’s breakthrough Software-Defined Server platform.

Software-Defined Servers simplify the way companies can apply computing resources to tackle big problems by combining multiple commodity servers into a single system – all without requiring any changes to operating systems or applications. TidalScale enables organizations to dynamically scale their server to the size of their problem, rather than the other way around.

The March 20 report, written by IDC's Jorge Vela, called out TidalScale and two other companies for offering “innovative solutions for improving server hardware utilization in the datacenter.” IDC selected TidalScale specifically for offering “software-defined compute capabilities by way of an innovative technology.” Every IDC Innovators report presents a set of vendors – under $100M in revenue at time of selection – chosen by an IDC analyst within a specific market. To be selected, IDC Innovators must offer an innovative new technology, a groundbreaking approach to an existing issue, and/or an interesting new business model.

“We are excited that TidalScale has been recognized by IDC as an innovator in infrastructure virtualization,” said Gary Smerdon, President & CEO, TidalScale. “As our recent momentum shows, the market is awakening to the transformative effect that Software-Defined Servers can have on organizations struggling to analyze big data and complex models. Now, for the first time, they can dynamically scale well beyond the limits of a single server to create a virtual system with as much memory and as many cores as the problem demands. We’re delighted to see that IDC recognizes that game-changing force that Software-Defined Servers represent for datacenters.”

    Momentum Grows for TidalScale

TidalScale’s recognition by IDC comes as the company sees growing market momentum for its Software-Defined Server platforms. In the past few weeks, TidalScale’s HyperKernel software has been certified for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, proven as a powerful scaling solution for TIBCO Enterprise Runtime for R (TERR), and certified as a reliable and supported solution for scaling on Ubuntu.
