TidalScale Named to Red Herring Top 100 Global

    CAMPBELL, Calif  – Nov. 19, 2017

Breakthrough capabilities of TidalScale's acclaimed Software-Defined Server technology, coupled with vision and track records of leadership team, prompts naming TidalScale to Red Herring Top 100 Global

Alex Vieux, Publisher and CEO of Red Herring

"At Red Herring, we evaluate thousands of companies that boast intriguing technology, or a transformative vision, or a management team capable of creating a real market leader. But it's rare to find all three of these crucial elements well represented in a single company. TidalScale combines all these traits in a company whose Software-Defined Servers are disrupting servers, datacenters and applications from microservices to large databases. What’s more, TidalScale is spearheaded by seasoned leaders who have seized a unique market opportunity. We're delighted to name TidalScale to Red Herring's Top 100 Global."

    Gary Smerdon, CEO of TidalScale

“It's rewarding to see TidalScale recognized once more for enabling organizations of all kinds to push past the limits of server hardware to create systems of virtually any size -- entirely on the fly and without a single change to operating systems or applications. We are grateful to the judges at Red Herring for recognizing that TidalScale is a disruptive force for achieving the goal of a fully software-defined data center, and for making more strategic use of existing resources either on premise or in the cloud. It's an honor to win the Red Herring Top 100 Global award."

    News Summary

TidalScale, the leading provider of Software-Defined Servers that bring flexibility to modern data centers by right-sizing servers on the fly, today announced it it has been named to the Red Herring Tio 100 Global. The Red Herring Top 100 Global recognizes the innovations and technologies of leading private companies from North America, Europe, and Asia.

    • At a special Red Herring Top 100 Global event last week, a panel of industry insiders, analysts and journalists selected TidalScale after learning how TidalScale makes it easy for users to combine multiple commodity servers into one or more servers of virtually any configuration. TidalScale extends the useful life and value of existing data center resources, while giving users on-the-fly access to systems many times larger than the servers available to them today.
    • Key to creating a Software-Defined Server -- and  to TidalScale's selection for the Red Herring honor -- is TidalScale’s acclaimed inverse hypervisor technology. Unlike traditional hypervisors that run multiple images on a single server, TidalScale’s inverse hypervisor technology enables Software-Defined Servers to combine all the resources of multiple commodity systems – including cores, memory, storage and network – into a single system image. TidalScale’s Software-Defined Server presents these aggregated resources to applications and operating systems as a cohesive whole, making all these resources available to users and applications, and all without a single change to operating systems or applications.
    • Making the Red Herring Top 100 Global is the latest achievement for the company. Earlier this year, TidalScale was named as both an IDC Innovator[i] and a Gartner Cool Vendor[ii] for 2017The honor also follows TidalScale's selection earlier this year as winner of the Red Herring Top 100 North America award.

A mark of distinction recognized worldwide

Red Herring’s Top 100 Global list has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.

Red Herring’s editorial staff evaluated award candidates on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, management quality, strategy, and market penetration. This assessment of potential is complemented by a review of the track records and standing of startups relative to their peers, allowing Red Herring to see past the “buzz” and make the list a valuable instrument of discovery and advocacy for the most promising new business models from around the world.
